Coaches Code of Conduct
Coaches must prioritize the health, safety, and development of players over winning or personal reputation. They must:
- Avoid placing an overemphasis on winning at the expense of player growth.
- Treat all players with respect, regardless of background or identity.
- Ensure player safety is always the top priority.
- Follow governing body guidelines and provide feedback focused on performance.
- Promote responsibility, fair play, and positive behavior.
- Keep activities age-appropriate and tailored to players' abilities.
- Refrain from using tobacco or alcohol in front of athletes.
- Collaborate with other professionals to support players’ best interests.
- Maintain high standards of conduct and seek ongoing professional development.
Parent Code of Conduct
OFTFC recognizes the critical role parents play in the development of youth athletes. Parents, fans, and coaches should be aware that their behavior—both verbal and non-verbal—can significantly impact players and team dynamics. To uphold sportsmanship, fair play, and mutual respect, the following guidelines have been established by the OFTFC Executive Committee:
- Promote a positive and respectful attitude toward players, coaches, parents, and officials.
- Define success by the development of skills, not by wins or losses.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the game and encourage good sportsmanship.
- Avoid abusive language or actions.
- Refrain from conduct that may reflect negatively on the team, club, or league.
- Prioritize player safety and welfare over winning.
- Support coaches and officials in their roles.
- Comply with the rules and policies of the team, club, league, and OFTCFC.
- Respect the coaching staff’s authority and allow them to do their job without interference.
- Address concerns with coaches in an appropriate setting—never during or immediately after a match.
By participating in OFTFC programs, you agree to follow these guidelines and understand that failure to do so may result in disciplinary action and recognize OFTFC’s right to enforce appropriate consequences.
